My guided tour of Turkmenistan is 10 days, but I’m considering staying a bit longer afterward to explore Ashgabat or relax. Is it possible to extend my stay beyond the tour dates?
Take a look at your Letter of Invitation (LOI). It should specify the duration of your visa. That will tell you how long you’re allowed to stay in the country.
I haven’t received my LOI yet, but since my tour is only 10 days, I assume the visa will cover just that. Still, I’d like to spend an extra day or two in Ashgabat after the tour ends.
You’ll need to mention your intention to stay longer when applying for your tour. Travel agencies typically apply for visas matching the length of the tour, so if you don’t ask for extra days, your visa will likely be issued for just 10 days.
Keep in mind that Turkmenistan’s visa fees are fixed for 10, 20, or 30 days. Even if you only need 12 days, you’ll be paying the 20-day visa fee. It’s best to clarify this with your agency while they’re handling your LOI and visa application. Hope this helps!
