The Argo Cable Car is one of Batumi’s standout attractions, offering visitors a breathtaking aerial perspective of the city. It enjoys immense popularity during the summer months, with lines forming even before its opening. Established in 2013, the Argo Cable Car is recognized as the longest of its kind in Georgia, far surpassing the length of the cable car in Tbilisi. Alongside its restaurant and shops, this cable car forms a cohesive entertainment complex.
Stretching nearly 2.5 kilometers, the cable car ascends to heights of up to 50 meters above the city. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all passengers. The project was designed and constructed by the renowned Austrian-Swiss company Doppelmayr, known for their expertise in cable car technology.
The cabins glide smoothly and slowly, with automatic doors that open and close seamlessly. The windows are secured with metal mesh, and safety instructions are affixed inside each cabin for passengers to review. The Argo Cable Car operates with 20 comfortable cabins, each featuring plush benches. The transparent walls allow for unobstructed views of the cityscape, showcasing stunning sights of the port, the Alphabet Tower, the Ferris wheel, and other coastal landmarks.
Each cabin accommodates up to 8 passengers, with 4 seats on each side. To maximize capacity, a minimum of 6 people is required per cabin during busy times, making solo or couple rides unavailable. At full capacity, the Batumi cable car can service up to 500 passengers per hour.
The entrance to the Argo Cable Car is conveniently located along the coast in central Batumi, on Gogebashvili Street. The final station is perched atop Mount Anuria, standing at an elevation of 250 meters. Here, visitors can explore an observation deck that offers stunning panoramic views of the city, use binoculars for a closer look, capture incredible photographs, enjoy a snack at a small restaurant, purchase souvenirs and local wine, and even visit a quaint church.
The Batumi cable car and the entertainment center operate daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Although the flow of eager visitors is constant from the moment it opens, many prefer evening rides when the buildings are illuminated, transforming the city into a dazzling spectacle. During these hours, the view becomes particularly enchanting, making for an unforgettable experience.
