The Rustavi State Forest Reserve is nestled in one of the city’s most picturesque areas, stretching gracefully along the banks of the Kura River. This protected natural haven draws nature enthusiasts, hikers, and picnickers alike with its diverse landscapes and rich tapestry of flora and fauna. Within the reserve, visitors will find well-maintained trekking paths, designated rest areas, and scenic viewpoints that offer breathtaking vistas of the surrounding terrain.
The forest begins near the ancient fortress and extends for approximately four kilometers along the river’s edge. It is a rare example of a vast forested expanse situated on flatland—a unique geographic feature in the region. Although parts of the forest have suffered some disturbance due to roads and scattered, unsightly constructions, the area still holds great promise. With thoughtful preservation and care, it has the potential to become a remarkable city park or even a semi-reserve, offering spectacular views of the jagged Yagludja Ridge rising in the distance.
