The central mosque of Taraz, known as the Hibatullah at-Tarazi Mosque, opened its doors to worshippers in 2008, though construction began in 2003. Four years later, a madrasa was built nearby, offering classes to those seeking religious education. The madrasa complex includes a library, dining hall, dormitories, classrooms, and offices for faculty and administrative staff. Both local and international instructors conduct lectures, bringing a wide range of perspectives to the teachings.
The at-Tarazi Mosque accommodates over 1,000 worshippers. Seven domes crown the building, with the main dome rising to an impressive height of 32.5 meters. Inside, Quranic verses adorn the walls, creating a serene spiritual atmosphere. The entrance is framed with traditional Kazakh patterns, while two prominent minarets stand out with striking blue diamond-shaped accents. The color palette of the mosque’s decor and architecture centers around blue and beige, lending an elegant harmony to its design.
Architecturally, the mosque draws inspiration from medieval mausoleums, echoing their semi-circular domes and pointed arches. The grounds surrounding the mosque are beautifully landscaped with flowerbeds, trees, paved pathways, lampposts, and benches, providing a tranquil space for visitors to gather and reflect.
