This half-day adventure begins with a scenic drive to the mountains, where you’ll embark on a self-guided walking tour. Enjoy an easy one-hour hike through the valley, where you’ll encounter unique rock formations and gain insight into local village life, including agriculture and shepherding practices. Along the way, we’ll stop to explore the fascinating traditional “karez” underground irrigation system. Departing at 9 AM, you’ll return around 1 PM, filled with the beauty and culture of the region.

Petroglyphs at Sarmysh-say Gorge (Half Day)

Village-to-Village Nuratau Mountain Hiking (Multi-Day)

For those seeking a deeper adventure, our multi-day hiking tour offers a remarkable journey through the Nuratau Mountains. Available as a 2, 3, or 4-day trip, you’ll spend your nights in cozy homestays, where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided.

The trek takes you from village to village, including visits to the abandoned stone houses of ancient settlements. Depending on the duration of your adventure, you may explore the villages of Sentob, Uhum, Asraf, and Hayot.

Enjoy the convenience of transportation between villages, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture and partake in nearby hikes. All you need is appropriate clothing and footwear to embark on this unforgettable journey!

Note: All trips start and finish in Nurata, with options to begin or conclude in Bukhara or Samarkand for an additional cost.

From Samarkand: If you would like to take a scenic drive through the mountains to see the Dara Valley with stops for short walks, photography and sightseeing, we can arrange this at an additional cost (+$15 for a total cost of $45 per car from Samarkand).

From Navoi or Bukhara you can make a visit to the Sarmysh-say petroglyphs gorge on the way to Nurata for an additional cost (+$20 per car). From Bukhara the cost is $60 per car, and from Navoi $40 per car.

These scenic trips can also be made on your return trip.
