Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Shakhrisabz towards the breathtaking Hisorak Reservoir. As we set off, take in the stunning landscapes that unfold around you. The journey covers approximately 80 kilometers and will take about 2.5 hours, offering an opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of Uzbekistan’s mountainous terrain.
10:30 AM – Arrival at Hisorak Reservoir
Upon reaching Hisorak Reservoir, you’ll be greeted by its serene waters and majestic mountain backdrop. This area is not only vital for the local ecosystem but also serves as a picturesque spot for photography and relaxation. Take a moment to appreciate the tranquil environment before we continue our journey.
12:00 PM – Arrival in Gilan Village
As we arrive in Gilan, you’ll be welcomed into this enchanting mountain village, known for its rich history and vibrant culture. Settle into your accommodations at a local guesthouse where a delicious traditional lunch will be served, featuring local delicacies that reflect the flavors of the region.
1:30 PM – Exploration of Gilan Village
After lunch, embark on a guided walking tour through the charming streets of Gilan. You’ll visit key sites such as the local tea house (chaihona), where you can enjoy a warm cup of tea while mingling with the friendly villagers. Next, explore the village mill and blacksmith shop, where traditional crafts are still practiced.
Additionally, you will have the chance to visit a sacred site that holds cultural significance for the local community, as well as an artist’s workshop, showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship of Gilan’s residents.
Participatory Activity (June Only)
If you visit in June, you may have the unique opportunity to participate in the traditional agricultural practice of hand-planting potatoes. Join the locals as they use donkeys or oxen to assist in tilling the fields, providing an authentic experience of rural life in Gilan.
