Your adventure begins at 08:00 a.m., when your guide and driver meet you at your hotel in Tbilisi. Sit back and enjoy the scenic drive through the picturesque Kakheti Region, famed for its rolling green hills and endless vineyards. By mid-morning, you’ll reach the charming town of Lagodekhi, nestled at the entrance to the Lagodekhi National Park, a protected area founded in 1912 and known for its rich biodiversity and untouched landscapes.
Upon arrival, we’ll begin our first hike—a moderately easy 9-kilometer round-trip journey to the Black Grouse Waterfall, a serene cascade set deep within the forest. The trail leads us through lush woodland, tracing a lively stream and offering a peaceful escape from modern life. The hike usually takes around 3 to 5 hours, allowing for breaks, photos, and a relaxing picnic lunch beside the 6-meter-high waterfall.
After returning from the trail, we’ll check into a warm and welcoming family guesthouse. Take time to unwind and freshen up before enjoying a delicious homecooked Georgian dinner, rich with local flavors and served in a cozy, authentic setting. Overnight in Lagodekhi.
Meals included: Picnic Lunch, Dinner
After a hearty breakfast at the guesthouse, we’ll set off for the second day of our hiking journey. A short drive brings us to the village of Khizabavra, the starting point for a spectacular hike to the Ninoskhevi Waterfall—a towering 40-meter-high cascade hidden deep in the park’s wilder section.
This trail is 8 kilometers one way, and the round-trip hike typically takes 4 to 6 hours depending on the trail’s condition. Along the way, prepare for a few river crossings—a fun and refreshing part of the journey (bring water-friendly shoes!). The reward is the magnificent waterfall itself, where you can pause, swim, or simply enjoy a picnic lunch in nature’s embrace.
In the late afternoon, we’ll return from the hike and head to a local Georgian family’s home, where you’ll experience authentic Kakhetian hospitality with a generous dinner and a taste of homemade local wine—a perfect way to end your adventure.
Finally, we’ll drive back to Tbilisi and drop you off at your hotel, bringing this invigorating nature escape to a close.
