Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Samarkand to the yurt camp, where you’ll settle in and embark on a leisurely hike to witness panoramic views of the Nurata Mountains and the stunning Aydarkul Lake. The next day, enjoy a visit to Aydarkul Lake, a vital ecosystem teeming with diverse birdlife, before exploring the historical ruins of Nurata, believed to be established by Alexander the Great.

Your adventure begins at 9:00 AM as we depart from the historic city of Samarkand, heading towards the stunning Sayyod Yurt Camp, nestled in the picturesque Nurata Mountains. The journey will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, covering a distance of around 170 kilometers. Upon arrival at the yurt camp around noon, you will be welcomed and shown to one of our 12 traditionally decorated yurts. Each yurt is designed for comfort and can accommodate between 2 to 4 guests, providing a cozy retreat amid nature.
After settling in and enjoying a delicious lunch featuring local cuisine, prepare for an invigorating three-hour hike (approximately 6 kilometers) through the breathtaking mountain landscape. This guided trek will take you along scenic trails, offering panoramic views of the Nurata Mountains and the distant Aydarkul Lake. As you ascend gradually through the valley, you’ll reach the highest point of the hike, where you can take in the stunning vistas of neighboring villages and the shimmering waters of Aydarkul Lake. The return journey will follow a different route, allowing you to experience new sights along the way.
After a day filled with exploration and adventure, return to the camp for a hearty dinner. In the evening, unwind by the modern swimming pool or gather around a cozy campfire under the starry sky, sharing stories and enjoying the tranquil ambiance of the mountains.
On the second day, after breakfast, we will depart the yurt camp at 10:30 AM for a scenic drive to Aydarkul Lake, which will take about two hours. The Aydarkul and Tuzkan lakes, along with their surrounding wetlands, are vital ecosystems that support a diverse array of wildlife. These areas are crucial for the breeding, resting, and wintering of over a hundred species of birds, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers alike.
Upon arrival at Aydarkul Lake, you will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful shoreline and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area. If the weather permits, feel free to take a refreshing swim in the lake’s inviting waters. A delightful picnic lunch will be provided, allowing you to savor your meal while surrounded by stunning views.
Following lunch, we will continue our journey towards Bukhara, with a stop in the historic town of Nurata along the way. Here, you will have the chance to visit the ancient ruins of a fortress believed to have been constructed by Alexander the Great. Additionally, you will see a sacred spring and a local pilgrimage site, both of which hold significant cultural and historical importance.
After exploring Nurata, we will resume our journey to Bukhara, arriving around 6:00 PM. This concludes your enriching experience at Sayyod Yurt Camp, leaving you with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation for the natural and historical wonders of Uzbekistan.

In the camp, there are thirteen traditionally decorated yurts, each equipped with one, two, or four comfortable single beds. We can accommodate 45 people simultaneously. Meals are served in a restaurant designed in a national style. The yurt camp is connected to the power grid and equipped with all modern amenities. Wi-Fi is available throughout the camp.
The camp features restrooms with sinks, showers, and toilets. Another highlight of the camp is the outdoor pool, operational from mid-April to mid-October. Next to the pool, there is a barbecue area.
Meals in the yurt camp are served in a spacious restaurant on the premises, which also has a bar. Breakfast is served buffet-style, while lunch and dinner feature national dishes such as manti, chuchvara, pilaf, dimlama, shurpa, mastava, and more. A wide selection of vegetarian dishes is available upon request. The restaurant is mainly used in spring and late autumn, while in summer, lunches and dinners are served on an outdoor terrace nearby.
The restaurant seats 60 people. There is also a kitchen where we hold masterclasses on preparing national dishes. Every morning, guests can observe the baking of bread in a traditional tandyr.

A few minutes’ walk from the yurts is a restroom and shower block with eight showers and six toilets, equipped with separate male and female facilities. Here, you will find hair dryers, mirrors, and there is always plenty of hot water. Convenient sinks for handwashing are located at the entrance to the block. The facility is heated, ensuring comfort even on cool autumn days.
Our yurt camp, located in the picturesque Nurata Mountains, offers excellent hiking opportunities. We have developed routes of varying difficulty and duration, allowing you to enjoy the stunning views of these unique mountain landscapes. You can hike independently using maps and routes provided at the camp. However, for longer and more challenging routes, we recommend hiring an experienced guide, as there are no signposts in the mountains.

A small telescope is also available in the camp to help you view stars, planets, and other celestial objects.
