09:00 – Departure from Tbilisi
Your day begins as our friendly driver and experienced hiking guide pick you up from your hotel in Tbilisi. We’ll set off on a scenic drive southward through the countryside of the Kvemo Kartli region, heading toward the entrance of Algeti National Park, also known as Trialeti National Park. The road takes us through traditional Georgian villages and lush landscapes, building excitement for the adventure ahead.
10:00 – Arrival and Start of the Hike
Upon arrival near the village of Tbisi, we begin our hike. The trail starts gently but soon ascends through a wooded ridge. As we gain elevation, the trail narrows and opens up to dramatic canyons framed by jagged cliffs and thick forests. Along the way, your guide will share stories of the area’s history, flora, and fauna.
Midday – Reaching the Campground and River Path
After a few hours of hiking, we reach a peaceful campground — an ideal place for a short rest and snack break. From here, we follow a small river that winds gracefully through the canyon, leading us deeper into the wilderness. The path is surrounded by towering rocks and moss-covered boulders, offering a cinematic setting for nature lovers and photographers.
Early Afternoon – Castle Ruins and Climb
At the end of the river path, we reach the highlight of our hike: the ancient ruins of the Birtvisi Fortress. Hidden atop a steep cliff, the ruins are accessible only via a challenging climb that requires scrambling over large rocks and narrow ridges. With the help of your guide, we’ll carefully make our way up — and be rewarded with stunning 360-degree views of the forested mountains and rocky formations that define the canyon.
15:30 – Descent and Return to Village
