Enjoy warm Georgian hospitality, explore rustic wine cellars, and savor a homemade lunch paired with exquisite local vintages. Whether you’re a connoisseur or a curious traveler, this wine tour promises a memorable day filled with taste, tradition, and stories that linger long after the last glass is empty.
Your wine journey begins in the morning when we depart from Kutaisi and head toward the picturesque Baghdati district—an area known for its fertile lands, gentle hills, and winemaking heritage. Our first stop is at Dimis Perdobi, a small, natural wine-producing winery where the process of winemaking is deeply rooted in ancestral knowledge and sustainable practices. Here, we will be introduced to the core principles of natural winemaking, observe how wine is fermented and aged in traditional qvevri clay jars buried underground, and explore the vineyard where Tsolikauri and Otskhanuri Sapere grapes are lovingly grown. We’ll then enjoy our first tasting, savoring the unique character of these Imeretian wines.
Our next stop is the welcoming village of Obcha, where we’ll visit Baia’s Winery, run entirely by a passionate family team. Baia herself, the winemaker, will guide us through her marani (wine cellar), explaining the qvevri process and the family’s commitment to organic methods. A traditional homemade lunch will be served, featuring Imeretian specialties paired with the winery’s finest selections. This part of the tour is a true celebration of Georgian hospitality, where food, wine, and culture come together.
After lunch, you can choose to return to Kutaisi, or if you’re enchanted by the atmosphere and wish to stay longer, Baia’s cozy guesthouse offers a relaxing option to extend your experience. Either way, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of Georgian wine, meaningful encounters, and memories to last far beyond the day.
