In Eastern cultures, grand, opulent weddings with numerous guests are a celebrated tradition. These events are characterized by their grandeur and lavishness, making them a true spectacle. In 2009, at the request of the Turkmen government, the Turkish construction firm Polimeks was commissioned to build an extravagant wedding palace. While the exact cost of this monumental project remains undisclosed, it was officially inaugurated in 2011 on the southwestern edge of Ashgabat, with the esteemed president in attendance. The palace, known as «Baght Koşgy» or the Palace of Marriage, quickly became one of Ashgabat’s new landmarks.

Visible from many vantage points throughout the city, this eleven-story wedding palace covers more than 38,000 square meters and is designed in a three-tiered structure. Each side of the building features the shape of an eight-pointed star, a prominent symbol in Turkmen architecture.

The upper tier of the palace is crowned by a large cube supported by massive columns. This cube houses a 32-meter-diameter globe, representing the Earth. The globe features a symbolic map of Turkmenistan, highlighting the country’s place on the global stage.

The interior of the palace is designed in traditional Turkmen style. It includes six ceremonial halls for marriage registrations, each named uniquely, and three wedding halls for festive events, two accommodating 500 guests each and one accommodating 1,000 guests. On the ninth floor, in the central part of the globe, lies the Golden Hall for weddings, named «Shamchyra.»

Additionally, the palace features seven banquet halls, 36 shops, two cafes, and various wedding-related services such as wedding attire boutiques, car decoration services, jewelry rentals, national decorations, a photo studio, a beauty salon, and a hotel with 22 comfortable rooms. The third and fourth floors house administrative offices and an archive. Below the building, there is an underground parking facility for 300 vehicles.

Nearby, two major hotels, «Yildiz» and «Ashgabat,» provide additional accommodation options. Adjacent to the palace is a small observation deck offering panoramic views of Archabil Avenue and the white marble residential buildings along Neutrality Avenue.
