Beldersay: Uzbekistan's Premier Ski Resort

Nestled in the majestic Tien Shan mountains, the Beldersay ski resort is located just 5 kilometers from Chimgan, on the slopes of the towering Kumbel Mountain. Situated at an elevation of 1600 meters, Beldersay is a haven for winter sports enthusiasts, boasting the longest alpine skiing track in Uzbekistan and a remarkable cableway stretching over 3 kilometers.

Beldersay offers a diverse array of attractions and activities for tourists. The region is renowned for its extensive network of recreational services, picturesque mountain woods, rugged rocks, deep gorges, expansive snowfields, various sanatoria and health resorts, and comprehensive excursion complexes. This rich blend of natural beauty and well-developed tourist infrastructure makes Beldersay a true gem for travelers.

Beldersay is anchored by the peak of Big Chimgan Mountain. In the middle section of the mountain stream lies a vast valley, a popular spot for summer camping, dotted with numerous tourist tents. Adventurers can explore the route from the Urta Kumbel Pass (1850 meters) to the Chet Kumbel Pass (1880 meters), and further to the Kumbel Pass (2550 meters). This trail meanders through dense coniferous forests, offering breathtaking views and serene natural surroundings.

From the Beldersay valley, one can ascend the Urta Kumbel Pass, which leads to the Marble River. This river is a favorite among tourists, featuring petrified seashells that hint at an ancient oceanic past. The Marble River cascades down a spectacular 15-meter high waterfall, adding to the area’s natural allure.

In the upper reaches of the Beldersay gorge, visitors can marvel at ancient rock paintings created by prehistoric hunters. These petroglyphs depict scenes of hunting ibexes, as well as domesticated animals like cats and dogs. The region’s mountainous terrain is not only visually stunning but also rich in historical significance, with numerous monuments of nature and history, including healing mineral springs.

Beldersay is a place where the contrasts of climate conditions and vegetation are vividly displayed. Visitors will be enchanted by the stunning landscapes of mountain valleys, slopes, snowy peaks, narrow mountain routes, roaring waterfalls, clear mountain streams, and serene blue lakes. The area is also home to beautiful mountain villages that preserve ancient and distinctive national traditions.

The region is steeped in history, with relics such as petroglyphs, barrows, fortresses, remnants of primitive settlements, ancient mines and melting furnaces, period artifacts, and even dinosaur tracks. Tourists are often fascinated by the ethnographic specifics of the mountain people, the unique character of local villages (kishlaks and auls), and the preserved traces of ancient history.

Visitors to Beldersay in the winter can enjoy a «sea tan» under the bright sun, as well as thrilling experiences of skiing and snowboarding on world-class alpine tracks and untouched slopes.
