Hey folks, is the Heliocomplex, aka the Sun Institute under Parkent, worth checking out?

It's a massive building. Looks like nothing's changed since it was built 😅 I didn't expect anything grand, but I'm glad I went. The structure itself and the spot where it's located are amazing. That's my kind of vibe.
Entrance ticket is 65k sum, local guide is 100k. Probably can't get up without a guide. We got there by taxi, took about an hour on the road.

@grandis Can you give me a rough idea on taxi prices? How much to get to the Heliocomplex and back, including waiting time?

I'd say you can get there for around 300k, and for the whole round trip plus waiting a couple hours while you're there, it should be doable for a million or even less – depends on how good you are at bargaining.
Let me add more about the Sun Institute since I couldn't find full info on the site.
It runs tours every day from 8-6. For foreigners, it's 65k sum per person.
We went on our own in a car, no group, so we were worried about getting in on Sunday. We did, even though the site says they work Mon-Sat. There are guides at the entrance.
They gave us a tour of the museum and the heliocomplex, and then we climbed the concentrator ourselves.

Good afternoon.
Please tell me about the Institute of the Sun.
If we come there on our own — will we get on a tour?
Or do we need to book in advance? Or is it only possible to get on a tour with guides?
We would like to go on an guided tour, not just walk around nearby.

You can come by taxi yourself and buy a ticket at the ticket office. A guide leads the tour and explains everything.

Thank you! 👍
No need to book in advance?
Does the guide work even if it’s not a group? Or do they gather a group first?
Does anyone know approximately how much a taxi costs?

No need to arrange anything in advance, just go when there’s sun, otherwise you won’t burn anything there with the sunlight.

And is it easy to get a car from there as well?
We’ve been to places like this before — we managed to get there by taxi, but couldn’t leave afterwards)

Just check right now in the Yandex Go app — set where you’re going from and to, and it will immediately show the price and the time for a car to arrive. Just don’t press the order button. The app will show how many cars are nearby and the waiting time in real time.

No need to book in advance?

You arrive and pay the entrance fee. The guide is included in it. English, Russian, and Uzbek languages are available.
