Hello everyone! We're heading to Kyrgyzstan and were thinking of bringing our drone along, but we’re unsure about the rules there. I reached out to the Civil Aviation Ministry for clarification—someone read my email, but I haven’t received a response yet.
Does anyone have more information or personal experience with flying drones in Kyrgyzstan?
We traveled to Kyrgyzstan in August this year and brought our drone along. No one asked us any questions, either at the Russian border or when we entered Kyrgyzstan.
I spent a day flying my drone along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul last October. No issues whatsoever—no one questioned me, either while flying or when entering the country (we came through the airport).
As long as you’re careful, you shouldn’t run into any problems in Kyrgyzstan. Out of all the Central Asian countries, Kyrgyzstan is probably the most drone-friendly in terms of attitudes (though the legislation in the region is generally quite strict).
My advice: avoid flying in cities (and frankly, Kyrgyz cities aren’t the most picturesque for drone footage anyway). Stay clear of military bases and other restricted areas, and you’ll leave Kyrgyzstan with some stunning shots. Safe flying!
