I am an Indian citizen seeking information regarding transit visa requirements.
I have a flight booked with Uzbekistan Airways on 2nd January 2025 from Almaty, Kazakhstan, arriving in Tashkent for a layover. My connecting flight is with Indigo Airlines, departing from Tashkent to Delhi, India, on 3rd January 2025 at 2:25 AM. As this involves a self-transfer, I would like to clarify whether I will require a transit visa for my stay in Tashkent.
Could you kindly provide details regarding the following:
Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated as I plan my journey.
Citizens of India do not need any type of visa, if transiting Uzbekistan for 5 days or less. This information is available here . So if you plan to leave airport's transit area you do not need transit visa anyway.
here is the official link to this information. Attachement 2 is confirming that as an Indian citizen you don't need any visa for transits through Uzbekistan for less than 5 days.
ATTENTION: As practice shows, with the exception of Uzbekistan Airways, not all airlines inform the Uzbekistan border service in advance about transit passengers without a visa. In such cases, passengers are either deported or forced to purchase a ticket for an alternative route. To avoid such unpleasant situations, foreign citizens eligible for a visa-free transit regime are strongly advised to confirm with their airline in advance whether they provide the service of timely informing the Uzbekistan border service about visa-free transit passengers. If such a service is unavailable, foreign citizens are recommended to obtain an electronic visa.
