For those who appreciate romantic settings and stunning views, an evening visit to the Khujand Observation Tower is highly recommended. Situated on Tashkent Prospect along the northern bank of the Syr Darya River, this landmark is easily accessible via bus route #1. In 2016, the city unveiled this observation platform, which locals affectionately refer to as the “Khujand Eiffel Tower.”
From the top of this 55-meter tower, visitors are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Khujand and the surrounding majestic mountains. The tower is equipped with an elevator that takes guests up to the observation deck, making it a perfect spot to take in the northern part of the city. The structure itself is supported by six curved pillars, each topped with a star. In the center of these supports is a cylindrical tower, crowned by an ornamental design. A small museum is also housed within the tower, featuring a few exhibits.
The crown atop the tower is modeled after the one worn by Ismail Somoni, a symbol also seen on Tajikistan’s national flag and coat of arms. Although this area is not heavily frequented by tourists, it offers excellent photo opportunities with the towering mountains as a dramatic backdrop. After enjoying the view from the tower, visitors can explore nearby landmarks. Walking east will lead you to the Nuri Islom Mosque, while heading south will take you to Ismail Somoni Park.
Tickets to the observation deck are reasonably priced, ranging from 20 to 30 somoni, making it a must-visit for those looking to capture the beauty of Khujand from above.
