Begin your journey with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Tashkent to the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan border crossing at Oybek (100 km, approximately 1.5 hours). Upon arrival, complete the customs and passport procedures on both sides of the border. Once you’ve passed through, our guide and driver will be waiting for you with a sign to welcome you. After crossing into Tajikistan, you will head to Khujand (70 km, approximately 1 hour).
Upon arrival in Khujand, you will start your sightseeing tour, beginning with the Republican Historical-Ethnographic Museum, where you’ll discover the rich history and culture of the region. Next, explore the imposing Timur-Malik Fortress, which offers a glimpse into the military history of Khujand. Continue your tour with a visit to the Archaeological Museum, showcasing ancient artifacts from the region, followed by the Mosque and Madrasah of Sheikh Muslehiddin, an architectural masterpiece. Finally, explore the vibrant Panjshanbe Bazaar, where you can immerse yourself in the lively local market atmosphere and experience traditional Tajik life.

On the second day, after breakfast, depart from Khujand and embark on a scenic drive to Penjikent (260 km, 5-6 hours). Enjoy the landscapes as you make your way towards this ancient town, nestled in the picturesque Zarafshan Valley. Upon arrival, check in to your guest house and take some time to rest.
Your guide will then take you on a sightseeing tour of Penjikent. Start with the Rudaki Museum, dedicated to the famous Persian poet considered the father of Persian poetry. Afterward, visit the ancient ruins of Penjikent, an ancient Sogdian city founded in the 5th century. These ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into the past, with visible foundations of houses, a citadel, Zoroastrian fire temples, and an ancient city bazaar. The city was abandoned in the 8th century following the Arab conquest, making it a significant historical site.
After a day of exploring this ancient town, return to your hotel for an overnight stay and rest up for the next leg of the journey.
On the final day of your journey, enjoy an early morning breakfast before transferring to the Tajikistan-Uzbekistan border at Jartepa (20 km, approximately 20 minutes). Complete the customs and passport controls on both sides of the border, where your guide and driver will be waiting to assist you. Once across the border, meet your Uzbek driver and travel towards the historical city of Samarkand (50 km, 1 hour).
Upon arrival in Samarkand, check in to your hotel and reflect on the amazing experiences and rich cultural history you’ve encountered throughout this journey. The tour will conclude here, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Tajikistan and the ancient cities along the Silk Road.
