Day 2Kochkor – Kilemche – Jaman Echki

After an early breakfast, transfer to the serene Jumgal Valley, the starting point of your horse trek just below the Kyzart Pass. Meet your guide and horsemen, then saddle up for the first leg of your journey. Cross the expansive Kyzyl-Kiya jailoo, a sprawling sea of lush green grass, before ascending the Chaar-Archa Pass at 3,061 meters. Level of Difficulty

This tour is designed with beginners in mind, making it an ideal choice for those with limited horse-riding experience. Participants can expect approximately 4-6 hours of riding each day, which is manageable for those new to horseback adventures.

Accommodation

During the tour, accommodation will be in shared yurts with 4-5 people per yurt, providing an authentic experience of Kyrgyz nomadic life.

  • Jaman-Echki Yurt Camp: Yurts here offer outdoor shower and standard toilet facilities.
  • CBT Yurts in Tulpar-Tash: These are simple shepherds’ yurts with basic amenities. Meals are modest, and toilet facilities are rudimentary. Showers are not available.
  • Tash-Dobo Yurt Camp: Guests will find outdoor shower and standard toilet facilities.

Horses and Luggage

Participants will ride sturdy Kyrgyz shepherd horses, known for their strength and endurance on high-altitude mountain trails. These horses are smaller in stature but highly capable of traversing long distances. Traditional Kyrgyz saddles, similar to those used by American cowboys, are provided, complete with saddle bags to store personal items.

For the three days of horse riding, participants should only pack essentials that fit into the saddle bags. Larger luggage can be stored in the support vehicle and retrieved at the final yurt camp. If you prefer to have your luggage carried by a separate horse, this can be arranged for an additional fee.

Equipment Requirements

Participants are advised to pack the following items to ensure a comfortable and safe journey:

  • Clothing: A down jacket, warm sweater, and silk sleeping bag liner.
  • Rain Gear: Waterproof trousers that can be worn without removing trekking boots.
  • Footwear: Waterproof trekking boots and 2-3 pairs of warm socks.
  • Other Essentials: Gloves, sunglasses, sun cream with high UV protection, and UV-protective lip balm.
  • Horse Riding Gear: Horse chaps and safety helmets, which can also be rented for an extra cost.

Health Precautions

Participants with specific medical conditions should bring a personalized first aid kit with the necessary medications.

Participants are required to acknowledge and accept potential risks associated with this tour. Circumstances such as severe weather, natural disasters, injuries, or medical issues may result in alterations to the planned activities.
