Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Bishkek

Welcome to your Kyrgyzstan adventure! Upon arrival in Bishkek, you’ll meet your driver, who will transfer you to your hotel. After settling in, enjoy some leisure time to relax and adjust to the city. Take in the local atmosphere at your own pace, and rest up for the exciting journey ahead. Overnight in Bishkek.

Travel Distance: 40 km

Day 2Bishkek City Tour & Journey to Chon-Kemin Valley

After breakfast, embark on an engaging city tour of Bishkek, where you’ll discover key landmarks such as the Monument of Kyrgyz National Hero Manas, the impressive Changing of Guards of Honor, and the statues of Kurmanjan Datka and Lenin. Explore the main Ala-Too Square, the fascinating Oak Park, and admire the open-air Fine Art Gallery.

The city tour concludes at the Victory Square, a poignant tribute to World War II. From there, we journey to the serene Chon-Kemin Valley, with a scenic drive through lush landscapes. Upon arrival, check into the cozy Guest House and take a stroll through the picturesque village of Kalmak Ashuu.

Day 3Chon-Kemin Valley to Karkara Valley

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll set off towards the breathtaking Karkara Valley, passing through the scenic Boom Gorge and the northern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake. Our first stop is in Cholpon-Ata, where you’ll explore an open-air petroglyph museum featuring ancient rock carvings and visit the Ethnographic Museum to learn more about Kyrgyz culture.

We’ll then continue our journey along the lake’s northern shore until we reach the tranquil Karkara Valley, located near the Kazakhstan border. Here, we’ll settle into a luxurious yurt camp equipped with modern amenities. You’ll have time to explore the area, hike around the canyon, climb nearby hills for panoramic views, or even try horse riding or mountain biking.

Enjoy a hearty dinner at the Karkara camp and rest overnight.

Travel Distance: 340 km / 5-6 hours

Day 4:Karkara Valley to Karakol, Jety Oguz Canyon & Bokonbaevo Village

Optional: early morning helicopter tour to the Yuzhny Inylchek glacier. The best attraction in Kyrgyzstan and a very deep impression for a lifetime (July-August only).

Start your day with breakfast, then travel to Karakol. En route, you’ll visit the N. M. Przhevalsky Museum, dedicated to the famed Russian explorer. Upon reaching Karakol, explore the city’s cultural gems: visit the unique Dungan Mosque, constructed in the style of a Chinese pagoda, and the beautiful Russian Orthodox Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Next, head to the mesmerizing Jety Oguz Canyon, known for its striking red rock formations, including the famous «Broken Heart» and the «Seven Bulls» cliffs. You’ll have time to take photographs and admire this picturesque landscape. From there, continue to Skazka Canyon, also known as the «Fairytale Canyon,» where you can marvel at the stunning rock formations and panoramic views of Issyk-Kul Lake.

Optional Experience: Witness a captivating eagle hunting show near Bokonbaevo Village, where you’ll see skilled hunters demonstrate this ancient Kyrgyz tradition. Later, enjoy dinner and rest in a guesthouse in Bokonbaevo.

Travel Distance: 285 km / 6 hours

Day 5:Return to Bishkek via Burana Tower

After breakfast, begin the journey back to Bishkek. On the way, we’ll stop at the UNESCO-listed Burana Tower, located near Tokmok town. This ancient minaret dates back to the 11th century and offers insights into the Silk Road era. Explore the surrounding historical site, which includes ancient tombstones and stone sculptures.

Optional Activity: Experience a thrilling horse game demonstration at the Burana Tower. Afterwards, continue the drive to Bishkek, check in to your hotel, and enjoy some free time to explore the city or unwind after your adventure.

Travel Distance: 300 km / 6 hours

Day 6:Departure from Bishkek

Your Kyrgyzstan journey comes to an end. After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. We hope you leave with unforgettable memories of the Majestic Valleys & Canyons of Kyrgyzstan!

Day 7:Departure from Bishkek

On the final day of the tour, you’ll be transferred to the airport (30 km from the city center) for your departure, marking the end of your unforgettable «Lakes & Legends Tour» through Kyrgyzstan.

I joined this tour with my wife, and it exceeded our expectations! Each day was packed with activities, from horseback riding in Chon-Kemin to exploring the mesmerizing Jety Oguz gorge. The yurt camp in Karkara Valley offered stunning views and a chance to connect with nature. The guide was extremely attentive, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and informed. The mix of cultural sites, like the Dungan Mosque, and natural wonders, like Issyk-Kul Lake, made this journey truly special. This tour was an unforgettable adventure! The landscapes were breathtaking, especially the Skazka Canyon and Chon-Kemin Valley. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, sharing stories about the history and culture of each place.
