Obtaining a visa for Uzbekistan may require additional steps for some travelers, including securing a Letter of Invitation (LOI), also known as visa support. This process involves the following:
- Visa Support Process: To apply for a visa, tourists may need an LOI, which is essentially authorization to proceed with the visa application. A travel agency recognized by Uzbekistan’s State Committee for Tourism Development must request this on behalf of the tourist by submitting the LOI to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
- Ministry Review and Approval: The Ministry evaluates the LOI within seven business days. Following approval, it communicates permission directly to the relevant Uzbek embassy or consulate via telex.
- Telex Number: The travel agency will then provide the tourist with a telex number. This number is crucial as it must be cited when applying for the visa at the embassy or consulate.
- Right to Refuse: It’s important to note that the Ministry reserves the right to deny visa support without any obligation to justify its decision.
For those whose nationalities are not listed under the visa-free or e-visa categories, obtaining an LOI becomes a necessary step. As part of our tour package services, we offer visa support at no additional charge. However, please be aware that you will still be responsible for the consular fees at the embassy or consulate, which vary from $40 to $200 based on your nationality and the intended length of your visit.
