Hey folks, quick question about Khiva – no separate chat for it, so I’ll ask here.
Climbing the Islam Khoja minaret – is it really just for the brave and physically fit, or can a not-so-sporty tourist try their luck and make it to the viewing platform? 😁
Is it worth shelling out 100,000 sums for the climb?
Getting up is fine – getting down is the real challenge!
And then the real problem: walking down any stairs for the next two weeks!!!
Thanks, at least now I know what I’m in for.
Sounds like at some points you’ll need your hands too 😅
Yep, you will!
And your head might hit the beams – it’s just the right height for your hands to be touching the ceiling.

You can do it – the key is not to rush, take your time both up and down.
I climbed it with some older ladies, and they managed just fine 🙂
Honestly, even seniors can make it. It looks scarier than it really is.
At one point, I thought there was more to climb – and boom, I was already at the viewing platform.
Not the easiest climb, but totally doable – just don’t go up during peak hours with crowds coming at you from both directions!
