Hi everyone!
In March, my friends and I are heading to Uzbekistan for a two-week adventure, and we plan to wrap up our trip with a visit to Lake Charvak and the beautiful mountains nearby, possibly including Lake Urungach as well. While we found that booking accommodations online can be quite pricey, we managed to snag a great deal on some cottages through Instagram.
I have a couple of questions: Is it feasible to use the Yandex taxi app to reach our accommodation, which is situated in a village by Lake Charvak? I noticed that you can set the destination in the app, but I’m unsure if it will actually work for that area.
Also, once we’re around the lake, can we continue using the app for local travel, or is there a chance to catch a taxi to go to a cable car or head over to Lake Urungach? Additionally, I saw that I could input the distance from Tashkent to Lake Urungach in the app; do you think a Yandex driver would be willing to take us there?
In short, is it realistic to plan this trip without renting a car or relying on a travel agency?
Thanks for any insights you can provide!
Hey there!
You’ll be pleased to know that there’s a bus service now operating from Tashkent to Lake Charvak, which runs four times a day. The buses leave from the Mashinasozlar metro station in Tashkent and take about 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach Charvak, covering a distance of 75 kilometers. The ticket price is quite affordable at 15,000 Uzbek SOM (around 1.25 EUR).
Here are the departure times from Tashkent:
And from Charvak, the buses leave at:
There’s also a train that departs from the Shimoliy (North) train station once daily, but keep in mind that the Charvak train station is a bit of a walk from the lake and the schedule might not align perfectly with your plans.
If you prefer, you can definitely arrange for a car through Yandex or hire a private vehicle to get to Charvak from Tashkent. Once you’re there, you should be able to find transportation options to explore the surrounding areas.
Hope this helps, and enjoy your trip
