@simmonsh944 it's a pity you're skipping Tashkent; you could spend a day strolling around, but I’m not sure what you’d do for three whole days in Bukhara.

I’m thinking about that too… although some say half a day in Khiva is enough. The ruins of the fortresses on the outskirts are not so interesting.

And I’m also worried about starting the trip at the most beautiful place. Won’t Bukhara and Samarkand seem dull after Khiva?

They won’t seem dull. They’re all different, each city is beautiful in its own way.

Well, if you’re rushing, maybe. But in Khiva, it’s important to understand WHAT you want to see. From the outside, all the buildings look the same — clay and more clay. The most interesting part is inside. For example, the Juma Mosque — you’ll walk past it and not even notice, thinking it’s just a barn, but inside, it’s a unique place.

As for Bukhara, three days is a bit too much. Everything is close by, and the fortress has literally nothing but the walls — unlike Khiva.

In Tashkent, it’s worth spending one night. You’ll arrive at 16:00, and by the time you get to your accommodation, it’ll be around 6:00 PM. In local terms, that’s late in the evening. In Central Asia, activity shifts very much towards the early morning hours.

It will be difficult to exchange currency in the evening, and getting a SIM card (which you’ll definitely need, and there are many nuances) will be almost impossible.
