Hi everyone! We’re flying to Tashkent for a couple of days (March 19–22). Could you please advise whether it makes sense to go to Chimgan at the end of March? Not for skiing, just to walk around on foot, without renting anything. If anyone has been there in late March, I’d really appreciate photos.

Another question — how are things with queues for the cable car and the trip there in general on those dates? Since it coincides with Ramadan and Navruz, will there be crowds of vacationers in Chimgan or not?

And the second option — not to go to Chimgan, but to visit Samarkand instead. What is it like there at the end of March? And will all the main sights be open to visitors, or could they be closed because of Navruz and Ramadan?

I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Better to go to Samarkand, since Navruz is on March 21.

Everything has been built up there, there’s not much room to just walk around in Chimgan, and the weather is still unstable. On one of those days there will definitely be heavy rain. Crowds are very likely. If you’re thinking cable car — Amirsoy is better, but it’s expensive. If there are organized groups, I’d rather go to the Valley.

And nothing will be closed because of the holiday?

It shouldn’t be. The only issue could be big traffic jams, since a lot of people will want to go out of town for the Novruz public holidays.
