In Samarkand, souvenirs are really expensive — at least in all the places we went. But today, by chance, we stopped by a shop at the Chorsu market. They have absolutely everything there. The prices are two to three times lower. You just need to ask the price from the respectable man at the cashier’s desk — he gives a lower price. The shop is on the second floor; the first floor sells gold. Here’s a photo of the entrance to the shop. When you’re looking at the entrance, the main market building will be on your left.

And we, for example, stopped by a little shop in the Eternal City. The man there spoke very knowledgeably about silk and local designer creations.

And today we went to Urgut, where at the market we found grandmothers selling suzani and other embroidery. We bought some beautiful pieces from them, took photos together, and left absolutely delighted Smile

Good afternoon! Could you please tell me where in Samarkand I can buy a silk or cotton robe at a reasonable price? Smile

We were there today — they have carpets, scarves, and clothing, including robes. The quality is factory-made, prices are lower than at the market, and you can bargain.

And what about the prices?

It depends on the quality and patterns. I only looked at one robe — a strict black, floor-length silk one for $250. I didn’t bargain, but I think they would’ve let it go for around $150–200. Overall, it was an interesting place — worth a visit.

About the carpet factory — give them a call, check it out, it’s really interesting. I found their business card, it was still in my wallet. What I especially liked was how they weave the patterns by hand.

For those who were looking for exclusive handmade items made from natural fabrics, there is a shop in the Eternal City. Of course, it’s impossible to compare it with what you find in the markets. Incredible beauty.
And such a beautiful little market 🥰

It’s not that far from the center of Samarkand, you can easily get there by taxi. And we met a guide on the bridge — he offered his services very cheaply, and we didn’t refuse) He took us to a restaurant terrace, through all the workshops, and told us a lot — we were very satisfied.

This is on the terrace of the Afrosiab restaurant in the Eternal City) the guide gave us his chapan and a spear with a shield from the restaurant’s props for photos)
