Your day begins at 9:00 AM when our friendly driver and knowledgeable guide pick you up from your hotel in Tbilisi. The scenic 2-hour drive through the beautiful Gombori Pass leads you to the village of Vardisubani, where you’ll meet a local family renowned for crafting qvevri — the traditional clay vessels used for fermenting and aging wine. Here, you’ll learn about the unique clay-making techniques that have been passed down for generations.
Next, we head to Telavi, the administrative and historic heart of Kakheti. Stroll through the charming streets of old Telavi, soaking up its relaxed atmosphere, and enjoy a photo opportunity at the monument dedicated to King Irakli II, a key figure in Georgian history.
Our journey continues to the elegant estate of Tsinandali, once the home of the Chavchavadze family — influential dukes, poets, and patrons of Georgian culture. Wander through the beautifully maintained English garden, visit the museum, and explore the wine cellar where you’ll savor some of the estate’s finest vintages.
The tour’s final highlight is a visit to the “Twins Wine Cellar” in Napareuli village. This private winery boasts vast vineyards and a fascinating museum dedicated to traditional qvevri winemaking. Depending on the season, you can take part in hands-on activities such as baking traditional Georgian bread (puri), crafting churchkhela (a classic sweet), or even harvesting and pressing grapes. Your experience concludes with a tasting session of five different wines produced at Twins Winery, showcasing the authentic flavors of Georgian winemaking. After this full and rewarding day, we return to Tbilisi, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
