Morning Departure from Tbilisi
After enjoying breakfast, your journey begins as we depart Tbilisi and head east toward the Kakheti region—Georgia’s cradle of wine culture. The scenic route takes us through the picturesque Gombori Pass, offering breathtaking views of forested hills and valleys.

Stop 1: Ikalto Monastery and Academy
Our first stop is the ancient Ikalto Monastery, once one of the most important cultural and educational centers of medieval Georgia. Founded in the 6th century and flourishing in the 12th century, this serene complex was the alma mater of Georgia’s national poet, Shota Rustaveli. Explore the monastery grounds, once home to an academy that taught theology, philosophy, and even winemaking—proof of the deep roots of this local tradition.

Stop 2: Alaverdi Cathedral
Next, we continue to the majestic Alaverdi Cathedral, a jewel of Georgian medieval architecture dating back to the 11th century. Nestled amidst vineyards, this towering structure once served as a religious and cultural hub. Today, it continues to inspire awe with its solemn grandeur and historic significance—it remains the second tallest cathedral in the country.

Stop 3: Traditional Family Winery Visit
No visit to Kakheti is complete without experiencing its legendary winemaking firsthand. We will stop at a family-owned winery to delve into the traditional Georgian method of wine fermentation in qvevri—large clay vessels buried underground. Learn about this UNESCO-recognized technique from local winemakers and enjoy a guided tasting of authentic Georgian wines.

Stop 4: Tsinandali Estate – House Museum of Alexander Chavchavadze
We then head to the elegant Tsinandali Estate, the 19th-century residence of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, a renowned poet, military officer, and public figure. Surrounded by a beautifully landscaped English-style garden, the estate houses a museum and a historic wine cellar that once hosted European royalty. Wander through the romantic park, explore the aristocratic halls, and savor the refined atmosphere of this noble residence.

Stop 5: Telavi – Historic Center of Kakheti
Our final stop is Telavi, the administrative and cultural heart of the region. Enjoy a leisurely walk through its charming old streets, admire traditional architecture, and pause for a photo at the equestrian monument to King Erekle II, one of Georgia’s most revered monarchs.

Evening Return to Tbilisi
After a day filled with rich history, stunning landscapes, and exquisite wine, we make our way back to Tbilisi. Drop-off at your hotel or preferred location.
