Your memorable day begins at 09:00, when our friendly guide and driver meet you at your hotel in Tbilisi. From here, we set off on a cultural and historical adventure that will transport you back in time.
Our first destination is Mtskheta, one of the oldest and most spiritually significant cities in Georgia. Once the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Iberia, Mtskheta has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its outstanding historical monuments. We will visit the Jvari Monastery, a stunning 6th-century church perched high on a hill. From this vantage point, enjoy panoramic views of the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers — a spectacular natural scene steeped in legend.
Next, we explore Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the spiritual heart of Georgia. Built in the 11th century, this architectural gem is believed to be the burial site of Christ’s robe. Its grand stone walls and vibrant frescoes tell stories of Georgia’s deep-rooted Christian faith.
From Mtskheta, we drive toward the fascinating Uplistsikhe Cave Town, one of the oldest urban settlements in the country. Dating back to the 1st millennium BC, this ancient rock-cut city once served as a major political and religious center. Wander through a labyrinth of caves carved into the cliffside — including ancient dwellings, pagan altars, wine cellars, and a basilica from the Christian period. The blend of architectural styles from different eras gives Uplistsikhe its unique character.
After our exploration, we head to the nearby city of Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Here, we visit the Stalin Museum, which features over 60,000 exhibits including photographs, personal belongings, and the house where Stalin was born. One of the museum’s highlights is the bulletproof train carriage used by Stalin during international wartime conferences.
Optional Experience: On the return journey, you may choose to stop at Nebi Winery in Chardakhi village (advance reservation required). Enjoy a hearty Georgian lunch prepared by a local family and sample the winery’s signature natural wines, crafted using traditional qvevri methods.
By early evening, we return to Tbilisi, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel with new insights and unforgettable memories of Georgia’s cultural treasures.
Duration: Approximately 9–10 hours.
Optional add-on: Nebi Winery lunch and wine tasting (reservation required).
