Discover the breathtaking diversity of southern Kazakhstan on this perfectly balanced journey that blends vibrant city life with untouched natural beauty. This tour invites you to explore Almaty — the cultural and commercial heart of the country — while venturing deep into the spectacular landscapes of the Northern Tien Shan Mountains.

Your adventure begins in Almaty, a city framed by snow-capped peaks and known for its leafy streets, rich history, and multicultural atmosphere. During guided city tours, you will see iconic landmarks such as the Ascension Cathedral, the Square of 28 Panfilov Heroes, and the city’s main squares, gaining insight into Kazakhstan’s past and present. From panoramic viewpoints at Kok-Tobe Hill to visits to museums and lively shopping areas, Almaty reveals itself as both elegant and energetic.

Beyond the city, nature takes center stage. Travel to the awe-inspiring Charyn Canyon, often compared to the Grand Canyon, where dramatic cliffs and the famous Valley of Castles create an otherworldly landscape shaped over millions of years. Continue to the tranquil mountain village of Saty, your base for exploring some of Kazakhstan’s most iconic lakes.

The Kolsai and Kaindy Lakes are true natural masterpieces. Surrounded by forests and alpine scenery, Kolsai Lake enchants with its calm waters and pristine atmosphere, while Kaindy Lake amazes visitors with submerged tree trunks rising from crystal-clear turquoise water — a hauntingly beautiful reminder of nature’s power.

The journey continues through mountain resorts and scenic gorges. Ride up to Shymbulak, Almaty’s premier alpine resort, visit the legendary Medeo skating rink, and unwind in the thermal springs of Alma-Arasan, set amid fir-covered slopes and rushing rivers.

Combining culture, adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable scenery, this tour is ideal for travelers who want to experience Kazakhstan’s most famous highlights in comfort and style — leaving with lasting impressions of dramatic landscapes and warm hospitality.

During the city tour, you will learn about Almaty’s role as the former capital of independent Kazakhstan and its ongoing importance as the country’s cultural and financial hub. The drive takes approximately three hours and passes through vast степpe landscapes. Along the way, your guide will share stories about the region’s geology, history, and traditional Kazakh lifestyle.

Charyn Canyon, formed over millions of years, captivates visitors with its dramatic rock formations, towering cliffs, and unusual shapes sculpted by wind and water. Day 3:Saty – Kolsai Lake – Kaindy Lake – Saty

Today is dedicated to discovering two of the most iconic alpine lakes in Kazakhstan. After breakfast, you will drive to Kolsai Lake, often referred to as the “Pearl of the Northern Tien Shan.” Surrounded by forested slopes and untouched nature, the lake offers a peaceful atmosphere and stunning reflections of the mountains. You will visit the first and most accessible lake, enjoying time for walks and photography.

Later, you will head to the extraordinary Kaindy Lake, located at an altitude of around 2,000 meters. This unique lake was formed after a powerful earthquake in 1911 caused a landslide that flooded a forested valley. The cold, clear water preserved the submerged tree trunks, which still rise above the surface like masts, creating an unforgettable and surreal landscape.

After exploring the area, you will return to Saty village.

Day 4:Saty – Almaty – Kok-Tobe Hill

From Medeo, you will continue to Shymbulak Ski Resort, located at over 2,200 meters above sea level. Known for its mild climate, clean mountain air, and impressive alpine scenery, Shymbulak is one of Central Asia’s most popular mountain resorts.
