Uzbekistan Introduces Visa-Free Travel for U.S. Citizens Starting January 2026

Starting January 1, 2026, Uzbekistan will introduce a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of the United States. The decree establishing this measure was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on November 3, according to the UzA news agency.

The main objectives outlined in the decree are to create favorable conditions for the further development of trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two countries, as well as to stimulate tourism.

Since 2021, a visa-free regime has been in effect in Uzbekistan for U.S. citizens aged 55 and over (along with nationals of several other countries) traveling for tourism for up to 30 days.

Plans to extend visa-free entry to all U.S. citizens were first mentioned in the presidential decree of May 15, which aimed to significantly increase the number of foreign visitors to Uzbekistan.

That document also instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to initiate negotiations with the United States on easing visa requirements for Uzbek citizens traveling to America.
