Hello - I am interested in buying a good quality Dutar and Uzbek Ney. Does anyone have any advice on where I can find one? Are there any famous instrument makers? I’m going to Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, so if there are any of these places that are particularly known for making these instruments please let me know.
There are some instruments available at Chorsu Market, but I can't vouch for the quality—they’re most likely aimed more at tourists than real musicians. There's a small shop located across from Chorsu. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name. If you exit the metro, it’ll be on the left side. First, you’ll see woodworking workshops where they sell things like small cabinets and cradles, and right after that, there’s a musical instrument workshop.
