For those who’ve recently registered, what’s the cost?
Is hotel registration free? Also, as I understand it, if you stay less than three days in a single city, registration isn’t required, right? Or does the three-day rule apply to the entire stay in the country? Thanks.

It’s free if you stay at a hotel. Hotels are obligated to register you. You don’t even need to do anything. When you check in, the hotel takes your passport, enters your details into the system, and then returns your passport along with a paper containing a QR code—that’s your registration. Also, no one checks these at the border anymore.

If you plan to stay longer than 15 days and not at a hotel but with friends, you’ll need to register at the OVIR office. There’s a small fee, around $10, though I can’t give you the exact amount.

Hello, everyone! I’ve read through the forum, internet sources, and even the Uzbek government’s decree on foreign nationals’ stay, but I’m still unclear on the process.

Can someone with experience help answer this question? Is the following itinerary a registration violation?

Details: A Spanish citizen is visiting Uzbekistan for 10 days.

  • Day 1: She stays overnight in Tashkent with no registration.
  • Day 2: Takes an overnight train to Khiva.
  • Days 3–4: Stays two nights in Khiva, registered at a guesthouse.
  • Day 5: Returns to Tashkent on an overnight train.
  • Day 6: Stays in Tashkent with no registration.
  • Days 7–9: Stays three nights at a hotel in Charvak, registered.
  • Day 10: Stays one final night in Tashkent without registration.

As I understand it, registration is required starting from the third day, and the overnight train counts as registration. However, I’m not sure about the second and third nights in Tashkent.

Don’t worry about it. Nobody calculates days or checks these slips anymore.

I’m a bit confused about the "automatic registration" in hotels and the three-day rule. Does the 15-day rule apply if the hotel registers me? Or should I ask them not to register me if I’ll be staying in hotels for less than 15 days?

You can do whatever you want within the 15-day period, even camp in a tent. If you leave the country within that time, there won’t be any issues.

Hotels (including private guesthouses) register you electronically, but only for the duration of your stay there. If you need longer-term registration (like a "residence permit"), you’ll have to go to OVIR with a local resident.

Good day! I’ve read the forum but still don’t understand the steps. I’m a Russian citizen planning a trip to Uzbekistan for about a month (less wouldn’t make sense because of high ticket prices). I plan to switch hotels and cities every 2–3 days. Where and how should I register?

if you’re staying at a hotel, registration is their responsibility. Any hotel, including private ones, registers electronically. They should print out a slip with a QR code for you. However, border officials haven’t checked these for a long time.

If you’re renting private accommodation, you’ll need to arrange registration with the host—some only do it for an extra fee.
