Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Bishkek

Your adventure begins as you arrive in Bishkek, where our guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After settling in, embark on a sightseeing tour of Bishkek, exploring Oak Park, Ala-Too Square, the State Philharmonic Hall, Manas Statue, and Victory Square. Take this time to acclimatize and enjoy your first evening in Kyrgyzstan. Overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 2Bishkek – Karakol (400 km)

Today, you’ll journey from Bishkek to Karakol, traveling along the southern shore of the stunning Issyk-Kul Lake. On the way, visit the ancient Burana Tower, a remnant of the 11th-century Karakhanid city of Balasagyn, and climb to the top for panoramic views of the Chuy Valley. Continue onward to explore the surreal Skazka Gorge, known for its unique red rock formations resembling fairy-tale landscapes. Arrive in Karakol in the evening and stay overnight in a guesthouse or hotel.

Day 3Karakol – Karakol Valley – Sirota Camp (3-4 hours on foot)

In the morning, meet the trekking team and transfer to a rugged 4WD Russian army vehicle that will take you deep into the Karakol River Valley. As you ascend into the valley, the scenery transforms into dense forests and towering rock formations. Begin your hike through lush conifer forests, following a well-marked path to the Sirota Camp at an altitude of 2,800 meters. Dinner will be served, and you’ll spend the night in tents under a starry mountain sky.

Day 4:Sirota Camp – Ala-Kul Lake – Keldike Gorge (5-6 hours on foot)

Fuel up with a hearty breakfast before starting the day’s trek. You’ll hike upwards, passing through alpine meadows, until you reach the magnificent Ala-Kul Lake, nestled at 3,532 meters above sea level. This glacial lake is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and offers incredible views. After lunch by the lake, the adventure continues as you cross the Ala-Kul Pass at 3,860 meters, where breathtaking vistas of the mountains await. Descend into the Keldike Gorge and camp overnight at an altitude of 3,200 meters.

Day 5:Keldike Gorge – Altyn Arashan (3-4 hours on foot)

Today, you’ll hike through scenic landscapes to reach the Altyn-Arashan Valley. The name «Altyn Arashan» translates to «Golden Springs,» and this area is famous for its natural hot springs, which are believed to have healing properties. Spend your afternoon relaxing in these sulfur-rich waters, taking in the stunning mountain views. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be in tents at an altitude of 2,600 meters.

Day 6:Altyn Arashan – Karakol

After breakfast, a vehicle will pick you up for a thrilling drive back to Karakol via a winding mountain road, showcasing incredible views along the way. Upon arrival, you’ll have some free time to explore Karakol or rest after your trek. Overnight stay in a guesthouse or hotel in Karakol.

Day 7:Karakol – Bishkek

Begin your day with a city tour of Karakol, visiting notable landmarks such as the beautifully carved Russian Orthodox Church and the Dungan Mosque, a remarkable wooden structure built without nails. Following this, drive back to Bishkek with a stop at Cholpon-Ata, where you’ll visit an open-air petroglyph gallery featuring ancient rock carvings dating from 500 BC to 100 AD. The tour concludes with an overnight stay at a hotel in Bishkek.

Day 8:Bishkek – Departure

On your final day, enjoy breakfast before transferring to the airport for your departure, bringing your incredible Kyrgyzstan adventure to a close.

Recommended Personal Gear: Warm clothing, trekking boots, sleeping bag, mat, rucksack, flashlight, sunglasses, and a personal first aid kit.

Tour Conditions: This trek doesn’t require advanced mountaineering skills, but you should be in good physical shape as you’ll be hiking 3-6 hours per day and reaching an elevation of 3,860 meters. Prepare for an incredible experience amid the beautiful wilderness of the Tien Shan Mountains.

My trek to Ala-Kul Lake was nothing short of extraordinary! The landscapes of Kyrgyzstan are stunning, with majestic mountains and lush valleys that left me in awe.
