Your pilgrimage begins with an overnight train ride to Turkestan, a city known as the spiritual capital of Kazakhstan. Upon arrival, you’ll experience the heart of the city’s mystique as you explore the Azret-Sultan historical complex and the iconic Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Day 1Almaty to Turkestan by Train

Your pilgrimage begins with an evening departure from Almaty to Turkestan via an overnight train, offering a comfortable journey through the Kazakh steppe. Relax and enjoy the peaceful night travel, preparing for an enriching spiritual adventure ahead. Overnight on the train.

Day 2Arrival in Turkestan - Discovering the Holy Sites

Arriving in Turkestan around midday, you’ll meet your expert guide and driver, who will introduce you to the city’s fascinating spiritual and architectural history. The tour starts with a visit to the Azret-Sultan Historical and Architectural Complex, where the iconic Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum stands. Built under the orders of Amir Timur, this stunning structure, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, holds a prominent place in the hearts of Kazakh Muslims and showcases intricate architecture.

Continuing to the Karavansaray Complex, visitors are immersed in a blend of cultural heritage and captivating experiences, from the 8D Altyn Samruk cinema showcasing Kazakh mythology, to an enchanting boat ride through the complex’s central canal. Day 3Sacred Sites from Turkestan to Shymkent

After an early breakfast, set out on a scenic drive to Shymkent, with stops at several spiritual sites along the way. The first stop is the Mausoleum of Arystan-Bab, the revered teacher and mentor of Yasawi, a holy place for pilgrims seeking blessings. Continuing onward, you’ll explore the ancient ruins of Otrar, a significant settlement in the medieval Silk Road network.

In Sayram Village, discover Yasawi’s heritage from another perspective as you visit the Ibragim-Ata Mausoleum (dedicated to his father) and Karashash-Ana Mausoleum (honoring his mother). Here, a historic minaret dating back to the Middle Ages also awaits exploration, with its rustic charm and spiritual aura.

The journey then leads to the Adam and Eve Cliffs in Kemekalgan village, a place shrouded in myth and known for its stone animal carvings, healing springs, and sacred cliffs believed to cleanse sins. In the evening, transfer to Shymkent’s railway station for an overnight return train to Almaty, departing at 19:45. Overnight on the train.
