In the realm of ancient legends, there is a tale that speaks of the divine distribution of the world’s territories among all peoples. In this celestial gathering, the Uzbek nation, known for its hospitality and kindness, allowed others to pass ahead with a gracious «Markhamat,» which means «please, go ahead.»
As the Uzbeks approached the throne of the Almighty, they found that the allocation was complete. The Lord inquired, «Why are you so late? All lands have been distributed.» With a humble bow, the Uzbeks replied, «Oh, Creator, you have instilled in us the virtues of compassion and neighborly love. In honoring your teachings, we let others precede us, and thus, we are the last to stand before you.»
The Lord’s countenance shone with a radiant smile, touched by the selfless spirit of the Uzbek people. He declared, «My sons, Uzbeks, your soul is truly noble and generous. For your purity of heart, I will bestow upon you the land I had reserved for myself, a land akin to paradise.»
And so, it was that the Creator granted the Uzbeks a verdant land nestled between two mighty rivers cascading from the mountains. This blessed land, graced by the hands of the divine, came to be known as Uzbekistan—a place where the heavens kissed the earth, leaving a legacy of generosity and warmth that would define its people for generations to come.
