Depending on the arrival time, there may be an opportunity to enjoy a first glimpse of this vibrant city, where centuries of history blend seamlessly with modern life. The remainder of the day is free to relax, explore independently, or enjoy a leisurely evening in the Georgian capital. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.

Day 2Discovering Tbilisi: Between East and West

After breakfast, a full day is dedicated to exploring Tbilisi, one of the most distinctive capitals in the Caucasus. Situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, the city reflects influences from many cultures, religions, and historical periods.

The sightseeing begins in the atmospheric Old Town, where narrow cobblestone streets wind between ancient churches, colorful wooden balconies, and historic buildings. The tour includes visits to the Sioni Cathedral, one of the city’s most important religious monuments, and the ancient Narikala Fortress, whose origins date back to the 4th century. Perched above the city, the fortress offers spectacular views over the Kura River and the surrounding districts.

The walk continues to the famous sulphur bath quarter, recognized by its distinctive brick-domed bathhouses. These natural thermal springs have played an important role in the city’s history for centuries. Guests also stroll along Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi’s elegant main boulevard lined with theatres, museums, cafés, and impressive architecture.

In the evening, enjoy dinner in a traditional Georgian restaurant and experience the country’s renowned cuisine. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 3:Kakheti Wine Region and Authentic Georgian Hospitality

Today’s excursion leads eastward into Kakheti, the country’s most famous wine-producing region and one of the oldest winemaking areas in the world. Fertile valleys, picturesque villages, and magnificent views of the Greater Caucasus Mountains characterize this beautiful region.

The first stop is the charming fortified town of Sighnaghi, often called the “City of Love.” Situated on a hilltop overlooking the Alazani Valley, the town has preserved its historical character with stone streets, traditional houses, and defensive walls punctuated by twenty-three watchtowers.

A memorable highlight of the day is a visit to a local family home. Guests are welcomed with genuine Georgian hospitality and treated to a traditional lunch prepared using fresh products grown on the family farm. This unique experience offers valuable insight into rural life, family traditions, and local customs that continue to shape Georgian society.

Later, a visit to a village winery introduces travelers to Georgia’s ancient qvevri winemaking method. Large clay vessels buried underground are still used to ferment and store wine according to traditions passed down through generations. The technique has been recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage. Wine tasting completes this enriching cultural experience before returning to Tbilisi for overnight stay.

Day 4:From Ancient Silk Road Cities to the Caucasus Mountains

After breakfast, departure towards central Georgia. The first stop is Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. A short photo stop near the museum dedicated to the former Soviet leader offers insight into a significant chapter of twentieth-century history.

The journey continues to Uplistsikhe, one of Georgia’s most remarkable archaeological sites. This ancient cave city, whose origins date back to the first millennium BC, was once an important trading center on the Silk Road. Carved directly into the rocky cliffs, the complex contains streets, ceremonial halls, dwellings, and ancient temples, providing a fascinating glimpse into early urban civilization.

In the afternoon, travel north along the famous Georgian Military Highway, one of the most scenic routes in the Caucasus. En route, visit the impressive Ananuri Fortress overlooking the turquoise waters of the Jinvali Reservoir. The route then ascends into the mountains, offering increasingly dramatic views of valleys, forests, and alpine landscapes.

Arrival in Gudauri, Georgia’s premier mountain resort. Dinner and overnight stay in Gudauri.

Day 5:Gergeti Trinity Church and the Valleys of the High Caucasus

Today is dedicated to exploring the spectacular mountain landscapes surrounding Stepantsminda, a picturesque town located beneath the towering summit of Mount Kazbek.

The excursion begins with a scenic drive along the Tergi River Valley before reaching Stepantsminda. From here, guests may hike through beautiful mountain scenery to the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, situated at an elevation of approximately 2,170 meters. For those preferring a more comfortable option, a four-wheel-drive transfer can be arranged locally.

The church’s dramatic location against the backdrop of Mount Kazbek creates one of the most recognizable images of Georgia. Visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views of glaciers, alpine meadows, and towering peaks.

In the afternoon, further exploration takes place in the scenic Dariali and Sno Valleys. These less-visited areas offer pristine nature, dramatic gorges, and spectacular mountain panoramas that appeal especially to nature lovers and photographers.

Return to Gudauri for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6:Mtskheta: Georgia’s Spiritual Heart

Following breakfast, departure towards Mtskheta, the ancient capital and religious center of Georgia. With a history spanning nearly three thousand years, this UNESCO World Heritage Site occupies a special place in the nation’s identity.

The first visit is to the magnificent Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, one of Georgia’s most sacred churches and a masterpiece of medieval architecture. According to tradition, the cathedral houses the Robe of Christ.

The program continues with the hilltop Jvari Monastery, an architectural gem dating from the 6th century. Its elevated position provides stunning views over the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers and the historic town below.

After exploring these important cultural monuments, return to Tbilisi. In the evening, enjoy another traditional Georgian dinner featuring regional specialties and local hospitality. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.
