Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Tbilisi – Discovering the Heart of Georgia

Upon your arrival at Tbilisi International Airport, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to your hotel. Official check-in begins at noon, allowing you some time to refresh and relax after your journey.

In the afternoon, meet your local guide for an exciting introductory tour of Tbilisi, Georgia’s vibrant and charming capital. Your first stop will be the iconic Monument to King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. From here, enjoy breathtaking views overlooking the old quarters of Tbilisi.

Next, ascend by cable car to Narikala Fortress, a historic citadel that has protected Tbilisi since the 4th century. The panoramic views from its ancient walls reveal a captivating blend of old and new—church domes, modern glass architecture, and the sprawling city below.

Descend on foot into the Abanotubani district, famous for its traditional Sulphur bathhouses, whose domed brick roofs are a beloved symbol of the city. Stroll past Tbilisi’s only mosque, a unique example of religious harmony, before continuing along the lively Shardeni Street, a hub of cozy cafés, wine bars, and artisan shops.

Marvel at the whimsical clock tower of the Rezo Gabriadze Puppet Theatre, a fairytale-like structure that enchants both locals and visitors. End your walking tour at the Bridge of Peace, a stunning glass and steel pedestrian bridge that leads to the green oasis of Rike Park.

In the evening, at 19:30, delight in a traditional Georgian dinner at a local restaurant, where you will savor rich flavors and hear the soulful sounds of Georgian folk music. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Tbilisi.

Day 2Tsalka Canyon Adventure – Nature’s Hidden Gem

After breakfast, embark on a day trip to the spectacular Tsalka Canyon (formerly Dashbashi Canyon), located approximately 100 kilometers west of Tbilisi. This breathtaking natural monument is a deep gorge carved by the Khrami River, stretching over 7 kilometers in length and plunging to depths of 300 meters.

A highlight of the canyon is the enchanting “Weeping Wall” waterfall, where water cascades down lush moss-covered cliffs, creating a serene and almost magical atmosphere. To reach this natural wonder, you will embark on a scenic hike along a well-maintained mountain trail. The trek to the waterfall is about 1.5 km one way, typically taking 1–1.5 hours for a round trip.

Be prepared for a moderately challenging climb back up, with rocky riverbanks and stone-laden paths requiring careful footing. However, the stunning views and refreshing air make the effort truly worthwhile.

After the hike, return to Tbilisi for some well-deserved free time. You can explore the city at your own pace, perhaps visiting local markets or enjoying a leisurely coffee in a quaint café. Overnight stay at your hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 3:Kakheti Wine Region – Sighnaghi & Bodbe (Optional)

Following breakfast, set off towards Kakheti, Georgia’s famed wine-making region. Your main destination today is Sighnaghi, often referred to as the “City of Love”. This picturesque hilltop town, with its cobbled streets and colorful balconies, was once a key point along the Great Silk Road.

Explore the charming streets of Sighnaghi, walk along its impressive defensive walls with 23 watchtowers, and enjoy panoramic views of the Alazani Valley. The town’s romantic atmosphere and artisan workshops make it a perfect spot for strolling and photography.

Optionally, you can visit the nearby Bodbe Monastery, a revered spiritual site where Saint Nino, the enlightener of Georgia, is buried. The serene complex also offers stunning vistas over the surrounding valley.

In the afternoon, return to Tbilisi, where you will have a free evening to relax or continue exploring the capital’s vibrant life. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.

Day 4:Jvari Monastery, Kazbegi, and the High Caucasus

After breakfast, depart for a scenic journey northward along the Georgian Military Highway. Your first stop will be the Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site perched atop a hill where the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers converge. This 6th-century architectural masterpiece offers some of the most iconic views in Georgia.

Continue towards the mountainous region of Kazbegi (Stepantsminda). En route, pause at a natural mineral spring, where vivid orange-colored travertine formations have been created by mineral-rich waters cascading down the hillside.

Upon reaching Kazbegi, switch to 4WD vehicles for an exciting drive up to the Gergeti Holy Trinity Church, dramatically located at 2170 meters above sea level. From this solitary church, you will be rewarded with awe-inspiring views of Mount Kazbegi (5033 m), one of the highest and most majestic peaks in the Caucasus.

In the evening, continue to Gudauri, a popular mountain resort, where you will spend the night.

Day 5:Ananuri Fortress, Uplistsikhe Cave Town, and Kutaisi

Today’s journey takes you westward, starting with a visit to the Ananuri Fortress Complex, a remarkable example of medieval Georgian military architecture. Overlooking the turquoise waters of the Jinvali Reservoir, the complex features impressive defensive walls, ancient churches, and watchtowers.

Next, head towards Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn cave town that dates back to the early Iron Age. Wander through its labyrinthine passageways, ancient dwellings, pagan temples, and Christian basilicas, all carved into the rock. Uplistsikhe’s unique blend of architectural styles reflects the rich and layered history of Georgia.

Continue driving to Kutaisi, the country’s second-largest city and a place of ancient legends, including the myth of Jason and the Argonauts’ quest for the Golden Fleece. Overnight stay in Kutaisi.

Day 6:Prometheus Cave, Martvili Canyon, and Arrival in Batumi

Begin the day with a short city tour of Kutaisi, visiting local landmarks and learning about the city’s storied past. Then, proceed to the nearby Prometheus Cave, one of Georgia’s most impressive karst caves adorned with mesmerizing stalactites, stalagmites, and underground rivers illuminated by colorful lights.

Continue to Martvili Canyon, located in the lush region of Samegrelo. Drive through traditional Georgian villages with charming wooden balconies and vibrant gardens. Upon arrival, enjoy a tranquil boat ride through the canyon, where emerald waters and steep cliffs create an unforgettable experience.

Afterward, explore the canyon on foot, using well-constructed paths and viewing platforms that offer spectacular perspectives of cascading waterfalls and rock formations.

In the evening, drive to the coastal city of Batumi, Georgia’s “Pearl of the Black Sea”. Overnight stay at a hotel in Batumi.

Day 7:Batumi City Tour & Botanical Garden Splendor

Start your day with a visit to the famous Batumi Botanical Garden, located on the picturesque Green Cape. Established in 1880, this lush paradise is the largest and oldest botanical garden in the South Caucasus, home to over 2,000 species of plants from diverse climates around the world.

Return to Batumi and explore the city’s charming Old Town, including Europe Square, Piazza, and the striking Alphabetic Tower celebrating the unique Georgian script. Admire the moving sculpture of “Ali and Nino”, a symbol of eternal love, and enjoy a scenic ride on Georgia’s longest ropeway, offering panoramic views of the city and coastline.

Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, perhaps relaxing by the seaside promenade or enjoying Batumi’s dynamic café scene. Overnight stay in Batumi.

Day 8:Farewell to Georgia – Departure from Batumi

After breakfast, enjoy free time for last-minute shopping or a relaxing stroll along Batumi’s picturesque boulevard. Check out from the hotel by noon, followed by a transfer to Batumi International Airport for your departure flight.

I had an amazing experience on this tour! Our Georgian guide, Nino, was so passionate about her country—every story she shared made history come alive. From the ancient monasteries to breathtaking mountain views, every stop was thoughtfully planned. I especially enjoyed the wine-tasting session where we learned about Georgia’s 8,000-year-old winemaking traditions. Nino’s enthusiasm was contagious, making the tour feel personal and unforgettable. The pace was perfect, giving us enough time to explore and take in the beauty. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic glimpse into Georgia’s rich culture.
