Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Tbilisi – Walking Tour of the Capital

Upon arrival at Tbilisi International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and transferred to your hotel, where check-in begins at noon. Later in the day, meet your local guide and set off on a captivating walking tour of Georgia’s charming capital. Begin at the cliffside Metekhi Church, then visit the Monument of Vakhtang Gorgasali, the city’s legendary founder. Ascend to the historic Narikala Fortress for sweeping views over Tbilisi’s old and new districts. Descend to the famous Sulphur Bathhouse District, passing Tbilisi’s only mosque along the way. Meander through the art-filled streets of Shardeni and visit architectural treasures such as Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Basilica, and the whimsical Rezo Gabriadze Clock Tower. Cross the modern Bridge of Peace into vibrant Rike Park. Enjoy free time in the evening. Overnight at a hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 2Tbilisi – Jvari – Ananuri – Kazbegi (Stepantsminda)

After breakfast, begin your journey north along the Georgian Military Highway. Your first stop is Jvari Monastery, perched on a hilltop with panoramic views of the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari Rivers. Continue to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta, a spiritual heart of Georgia and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, explore the impressive Ananuri Fortress, with its medieval towers and churches beside the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir. Driving deeper into the Caucasus, stop at the Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument, an arched lookout over dramatic gorges. Arrive in Kazbegi (Stepantsminda), where majestic Mount Kazbek dominates the skyline. Visit the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, poised above the town at 2170 meters. Overnight at a hotel in Kazbegi.

Day 3:Truso Valley Hike and Zakagori Fortress

Fuel up with breakfast before heading to the village of Kvemo Okrokana to begin a spectacular full-day hike through Truso Valley, one of Georgia’s hidden gems. Follow a winding trail past colorful travertine formations, mineral springs, centuries-old towers, and abandoned stone villages. Your destination is the scenic ruins of Zakagori Fortress, offering unmatched views of the remote valley. Surrounded by dramatic peaks and windswept plateaus, the landscape here is both surreal and serene. Return to Kazbegi for the night.

Day 4:Juta Valley Hike – Optional Horseback Riding or Waterfalls

Today, venture through Sno Valley to the alpine village of Juta (2150m). Begin with a short but steep 30-minute uphill walk, then continue hiking through meadows and mountain ridges for another 2–3 hours. Marvel at the imposing Chaukhi Massif, Georgia’s “Dolomites,” and soak in the peaceful ambiance of this isolated highland gem. Enjoy a picnic or photo break at 2500 meters above sea level before returning to Kazbegi.

  • Short hikes to Gveleti Small Waterfall (770m, ~30 min) and Gveleti Great Waterfall (940m, ~35 min), nestled among cliffs and alpine vegetation.
    Overnight in Kazbegi.

Day 5:Kazbegi – Rafting on Aragvi River – Telavi

Check out after breakfast and travel southeast into Kakheti, Georgia’s renowned wine-producing region. En route, stop for an exciting rafting experience on the Aragvi River, ideal for beginners and seasoned adventurers alike (Class II rapids). Following a safety briefing and training session, paddle through winding mountain scenery and enjoy the rush of whitewater. After the rafting session, continue on to Telavi, the regional hub of Kakheti. Enjoy a relaxed walk through the charming town center and visit the Monument of King Erekle II, a key figure in Georgia’s history. Overnight at a hotel in Telavi.

Day 6:Lagodekhi National Park – Ninoskhevi Waterfall – Tbilisi

Start your morning with a drive to Lagodekhi Protected Areas, one of Georgia’s oldest nature reserves. Begin your hike from the Gurgeniani Visitor Center, tracing the path of the Ninoskhevi River through lush forest landscapes. The trail, ideal for nature enthusiasts, is home to rare species like Lagodekhian gentians, wild snowdrops, and giant oaks. The highlight is the stunning Ninoskhevi Waterfall, a 40-meter cascade thundering into a secluded gorge—perfect for a refreshing pause and photos. After the hike, drive back to Tbilisi for a well-earned rest.

Day 7:Birtvisi Canyon Exploration

After breakfast, set out for a day of off-the-beaten-path hiking in Birtvisi Canyon, located about an hour’s drive from Tbilisi. The hike begins in Tbisi Village, climbing a forested ridge before descending into a dramatic canyon flanked by towering cliffs. After reaching a scenic campsite, continue along a winding river path leading to the ruins of Birtvisi Fortress, once a hidden stronghold nestled among volcanic rock formations. The final climb requires hands-on scrambling between boulders, but the reward is a breathtaking panorama reminiscent of Cappadocia. Return to Tbisi village and drive back to Tbilisi.

Day 8:Departure from Tbilisi

After breakfast, check out by noon. A private transfer will take you to Tbilisi International Airport for your departure flight.
