Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Tashkent

Welcome to Tashkent, the bustling capital of Uzbekistan and a gateway to your exploration of Islamic heritage. Upon your arrival at Tashkent International Airport, you will be greeted by our professional driver who will transfer you to your comfortable hotel in the city center. After check-in, you have the rest of the day free to relax and acclimate to your surroundings. Enjoy the city at your own pace, whether you choose to explore local cafes, stroll through nearby parks, or simply rest from your journey. Overnight accommodation will be at your selected hotel.

Day 2Tashkent to Samarkand

After breakfast, check out from your hotel by noon and prepare to delve into the rich history of Tashkent. Your exploration begins with a guided tour of the Old City. Start at the esteemed Khast-Imam Complex, home to the revered 8th-century Quran that once belonged to Caliph Uthman. This significant site comprises the Barak-Khan Madrasah, the Tillya Sheykh Mosque, and the Saint Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum, along with the renowned Islamic Institute of Imam al-Bukhari. Following your visit to the Khast-Imam Complex, continue to Chorsu Bazaar, a vibrant market where you can experience local culture and commerce. Next, visit the Mausoleum of Sheikh Zainiddin-bobo and the Zangiata Complex, a significant Muslim pilgrimage site located just outside the city.

At 17:30, transfer to the railway station for your journey to Samarkand aboard the high-speed Afrosiyob train, departing at 18:50 and arriving at 20:55. Upon arrival, a driver will meet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel in Samarkand, where you will spend the night.

Day 3Discovering Samarkand

Your day in Samarkand begins with a pickup from your hotel at 9:00. The first stop will be the Mausoleum of the distinguished Islamic scholar Imam al-Bukhari, located about 30 kilometers from Samarkand. After paying your respects at this scholarly site, you will return to Samarkand to continue your exploration.

Next, you will visit the mausoleum of Abu Mansur Al Maturidiy, a key figure in Islamic theology. Then, delve into the majestic Registan Square, renowned for its three magnificent madrasahs. Continue your journey with a visit to the Ulugh Beg Observatory, an ancient center of astronomical study. The Shakhi-Zinda Necropolis awaits with its richly decorated mausoleums and intricate tilework. You will also explore the mausoleums of Gur-e-Amir and Khoja Ahror Valiy. After a full day of sightseeing, you will return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4Samarkand to Bukhara

On the fourth day, you will embark on a morning departure from Samarkand at 9:00, traveling to Bukhara, which is approximately 280 kilometers away and will take around 4 hours by road. En route, you will make a stop at the historic Rabat-i-Malik Caravanserai and Gijduvan, where you will visit the tomb of the esteemed Sufi scholar Abduholiq Gijduvaniy.

Upon reaching Bukhara, check into your hotel and take some time to settle in. Spend the remainder of your day exploring the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Bukhara. This area is a treasure trove of historical architecture, including the Kalyan Minaret, the Kalyan Mosque, and the Miri-Arab Madrasah. Other notable sites include the Magoki-Attori Mosque, the madrasahs of Ulugh Beg and Abdulazizkhan, and the distinctive Chor-Minor Madrasah. Wander through the historic trade domes, the Lyabi Hauz Ensemble, and visit the Ark Fortress and Bolo-Khauz Mosque. If available, enjoy an evening folklore performance at the Nadir Divan-begi Madrasah. Overnight accommodation will be at your hotel in Bukhara.

Day 5Bukhara to Tashkent

Start your day with visits to the significant mausoleums of the Samani dynasty, including the Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum, Bakhouddin Naqshbandi Mausoleum, and Said Amir Kulol Mausoleum. After your morning of exploration, you will transfer to the train station at 14:45. Board the high-speed train departing for Tashkent at 15:50 and arriving at 19:40.

Upon arrival in Tashkent, you will be transferred to your hotel for your final night in the city. You may use this time to revisit any favorite spots or simply relax after your journey.

Day 6Departure from Tashkent

On the final day, check out from your hotel and prepare for your departure. You will be transferred to Tashkent International Airport for your onward flight. This concludes your 6-day journey through Uzbekistan’s rich Islamic heritage, leaving you with unforgettable memories and a deeper understanding of this historic region.

I had an incredible time on the 6-day Uzbekistan Islamic Heritage Tour. The trip was a journey through some of the most significant Islamic sites in Uzbekistan. Seeing the Quran of Caliph Uthman and exploring Registan Square were personal highlights. The visit to Bukhara was particularly memorable, with its stunning mosques and historical buildings. The guides were excellent, providing in-depth knowledge and context. The tour was well-organized and insightful, perfect for anyone with an interest in Islamic history.
