Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Baku

Upon landing at Baku International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by a local driver who will escort you to your hotel. Check-in begins from 14:00. The rest of the day is at your leisure to unwind after the journey, stroll around nearby sights, or relax in preparation for the adventure ahead. Overnight stay at the hotel in Baku.

Day 2Discovering the Charm of Baku

After breakfast, meet your guide for a full-day exploration of Azerbaijan’s capital. Begin at Martyrs’ Lane, locally known as Shehidler Khiyabany, a solemn memorial that offers panoramic views of the Caspian coastline and Flame Towers. Then step into history at Icheri Sheher, Baku’s UNESCO-listed Old City. Wander its narrow alleys and visit architectural treasures like the majestic Shirvanshahs’ Palace, the ancient Caravanserai, and the iconic Maiden Tower. Discover a lively main square with artisan studios and colorful bazaars. Later, transition into modern Baku as you explore Nizami Street and the dynamic Fountain Square. Conclude the tour with a visit to the striking Heydar Aliyev Center, renowned for its futuristic design. In the evening, gather for a festive welcome dinner at a traditional Azerbaijani restaurant. Day 3:Journey to the Absheron Peninsula and Gobustan

Today’s journey takes you beyond the city into the historic and natural wonders of the Absheron Peninsula. Begin at Yanardag, or Burning Mountain, where flames fueled by subterranean natural gas have burned continuously for centuries. Continue to Surakhany village to see the Ateshgah Fire Temple, once a pilgrimage site for Zoroastrians from India. After a local lunch, travel to Gobustan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its ancient rock carvings. Visit the Petroglyph Museum and hike among the rock art, some over 12,000 years old. If the weather permits, switch to a 4WD to visit Gobustan’s surreal mud volcanoes—over half the world’s known mud volcanoes are found here. Return to Baku for an overnight stay.

Day 4:Baku – Shamakhi – Lahij – Sheki

After breakfast, depart Baku for a scenic drive westward toward the mountainous town of Sheki. En route, stop in the village of Maraza to explore the Diri Baba Mausoleum, a unique two-storey tomb built into a rocky cliff. Next, visit the city of Shamakhi, once a royal capital, and explore the historic Juma Mosque, among the oldest mosques in the Caucasus, recently restored to its former glory. If road conditions permit, take a detour into the Girdimanchay River Canyon to reach the mountain village of Lahij (note: access closed in 2025 due to roadworks). This ancient village, with its cobbled streets and stone houses, is renowned for traditional crafts such as copperwork, carpet weaving, and hand-forged tools. Arrive in Sheki in the evening, surrounded by lush green hills and mountain vistas. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5:Sheki – Border Crossing – Kvareli – Telavi

Begin the day by exploring Sheki’s lively bazaar, brimming with fresh produce, spices, local cheeses, honey, and the town’s famous halva sweets. Continue to the beautifully preserved Sheki Khans’ Palace, adorned with colorful stained-glass windows and intricate frescoes. Stop by the nearby artisans’ workshops and the historic caravanserai. Depart Sheki and head toward the Georgian border. After bidding farewell to your Azerbaijani guide and completing border formalities on foot (approximately 500 meters of neutral ground), you’ll be greeted by your Georgian team. The journey continues into Georgia’s Kakheti region, renowned for its vineyards and centuries-old winemaking traditions. Stop for a home-cooked Georgian lunch hosted by a local family. Then visit the Khareba wine cellar, an atmospheric tunnel dug into the mountainside, originally for military use but now home to some of the region’s best vintages. Enjoy a tour and tasting session before heading to your hotel in Telavi. Overnight stay.

Day 6:Kakheti Wine Region – Tsinandali – Sighnaghi – Tbilisi

Stroll through its manicured gardens and explore the museum and historic wine cellar. Next, drive to the Bodbe Convent, where St. Nino—the evangelizer of Christianity in Georgia—is buried. Day 7:Highlights of Tbilisi
