Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Tashkent

Welcome to Tashkent, the vibrant capital of Uzbekistan. Upon arrival, our driver will greet you at the airport and take you to your hotel for check-in. After a relaxing break, your guide will meet you and you’ll embark on an exciting sightseeing tour of Tashkent, the largest city in Central Asia. Begin with a visit to the historic Khast-Imam Complex in the Old City, home to the famous Quran of Caliph Uthman, one of the oldest surviving Qurans in the world. At the complex, you’ll explore Barak-Khan Madrasah, the Tillya Sheykh Mosque, the Saint Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum, and the Islamic Institute of Imam al-Bukhari. Afterward, stroll through the bustling Chorsu Bazaar for a taste of local life. Take a ride on the Tashkent Metro to reach the city center, where you’ll visit the Applied Arts Museum and walk past the Navoi Theater to Amir Timur Square. Enjoy the lively atmosphere of Tashkent before returning to your hotel for the night.

Day 2Tashkent to Bukhara

Early morning transfer to the railway station for a high-speed train ride to Bukhara. The train departs at 07:30 and arrives at 11:17, giving you a comfortable and scenic journey. Upon arrival, a driver will transfer you to your hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, begin your exploration of Bukhara’s UNESCO-listed historic center. Visit the Lyabi Hauz Ensemble, the Magoki-Attori Mosque, and the stunning Chor-Minor Madrasah. Explore the Kalyan Minaret and Mosque, and continue to the Miri-Arab Madrasah. Visit Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan madrasahs, and take a step back in time at the Ark Fortress, Bolo-Khauz Mosque, Ismail Samani Mausoleum, and Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum. Return to your hotel for the evening.

Day 3:Bukhara to Samarkand

In the morning, visit the Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa, a remarkable summer residence of Bukhara’s last emir that blends Oriental and Russian architectural styles. Then, explore the Bakhouddin Naqshbandi Mausoleum and the Chor-Bakr Necropolis, both significant cultural and historical landmarks. Afterward, enjoy a scenic drive to Samarkand (275 km, approximately 4 hours). On arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 4:Samarkand

After breakfast, meet your guide and begin your Samarkand city tour. Start with the breathtaking Registan Square, home to three magnificent madrasahs. Explore the remains of the Bibi Khanum Mosque and wander through the bustling Siab Bazaar. Visit the Ulugbek Observatory, a key scientific landmark, and the Shakhi-Zinda Necropolis, where you’ll see a stunning array of mausoleums. End your tour at the Gur Emir Mausoleum, the final resting place of the great Tamerlane. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5:Samarkand to Tashkent

After checking out of your hotel, begin your day with visits to the Afrasiab Museum and the Tomb of Saint Daniel. Continue to the village of Konigil, where you’ll see the traditional process of mulberry paper production. Enjoy some free time with a car and driver at your disposal. In the late afternoon, transfer to the railway station for your return journey to Tashkent on the high-speed Afrosiyob train (2 hours 10 minutes). Upon arrival in Tashkent, transfer to your hotel for check-in and an overnight stay.

Day 6:Tashkent to Almaty

After breakfast, transfer to Tashkent International Airport for your flight to Almaty. Upon arrival in Almaty, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the city or relax at your leisure.
Overnight in Almaty

Day 7:Almaty

Meet your guide in the hotel lobby and begin your city sightseeing tour. Visit Panfilov Park, home to the stunning Zenkov Cathedral, one of the tallest wooden structures in the world. Then, head to the Central State Museum (closed on Tuesdays) to explore Kazakhstan’s rich history. Take a stroll around Republic Square, and in the afternoon, drive to Chimbulak, a famous ski resort in the Tian Shan Mountains. Ride the cable car for panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks. End the day with a visit to the Sunkar Falcon Farm, where you can witness the impressive hunting skills of trained falcons.

Day 8:Almaty to Charyn Canyon

Your guide will meet you at the hotel for a scenic drive to Charyn Canyon, located 220 km east of Almaty (approximately 3-4 hours). Continue to the Nurzhol and Green Water boulevards, where you’ll find iconic skyscrapers. Visit the Bayterek Monument for breathtaking panoramic views of the city from the observation tower. End your tour at Khan-Shatyr, a massive shopping and entertainment center.

Day 10:Astana to Alzhir Memorial

Today, you’ll drive to the ALZHIR Memorial Complex, located 40 km from Astana. This poignant site was once a concentration camp for women during Stalin’s purges and holds the stories of thousands of women who suffered there. Explore the memorial to learn about the hardships faced by these women and reflect on the historical significance of the camp. Return to Astana in the afternoon for free time and an overnight stay.

Day 11:Departure from Astana

After checking out of the hotel, enjoy your last moments in Astana with some free time. Later, you will be transferred to Astana International Airport for your flight home, marking the end of your unforgettable 11-day journey through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

An incredible 11 days exploring the rich cultures and landscapes of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Highlights for me included the serene Khast-Imam Complex in Tashkent, the stunning Charyn Canyon, and the peaceful Bukhara city, steeped in history. The tour was perfectly paced, allowing us to visit both well-known sites like Registan Square and hidden gems like the ALZHIR Memorial Complex. Almaty’s breathtaking cable car ride was an absolute thrill.
